Riff

Age: 8 wk

Weight: growing!

Riff is the sweet, stereotypical retriever puppy. She’s gorgeous, smart, curious and playful - she would be the perfect addition to a busy home with energetic children and possibly a sibling dog to show her the ropes.

While she loves to explore her surroundings and play with her siblings at the moment, she also will whine for a human cuddle as well. She will need a family willing to give her lots of opportunities to play and roam, and redirect her current puppy-playfulness so she can learn healthy habits and outlets for her energetic and playful nature.

Her current foster family has a cat that she has been slowly introduced to. Of the three puppies currently at the foster, she is the most curious about the cat, but also respectful of her space for now. We think she could do well with a cat, so long as there are slow and respectful introductions and transitions.

While she also adores playing and cuddling with the foster’s elementary-aged children, you can tell she is looking for an adult to give her direction and safety when making choices - again highlighting her intelligence and perceptive nature. She has already started to test the boundaries of her foster’s fenced-in yard, so we suspect she’ll need a fenced-in yard as she learns to respect her surroundings and learns leash-work. But, if you leave her sight, she will look for and find you! She will need reinforcement with recall.

Travel at the moment is not her thing and it can upset her tummy. With time and positive reinforcement, she may come to enjoy car rides but for now, Riff is happy to leave the driving to you while she naps at home!
