NRGRR Foster Application

Thank you for considering to become a foster for Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue. We are always in need of fosters, including temporary fosters and occasionally permanent fosters for one of our special needs dogs.

There is nothing more rewarding than providing a loving home for a dog in need and seeing the transformation as they go through rehab. Our dogs come from a variety of backgrounds - saved from shelters, found as strays, or surrendered by their owners. Dogs accepted into NRGRR receive medical care before being placed in foster homes, which includes a physical exam by our vet, spay/neuter, shots/vaccines, a heartworm test and other medical treatments as needed. As a foster, you will help the dog complete the rehabilitation process and then work with our coordinators to find the best possible forever home for your foster dog.

NRGRR fosters need to live within 90 minutes of the Triangle area.  You will be required to use our vet offices that are located in the Triangle area and be able to attend our Meet and Greets with your foster dog that are held in Durham. Fostering is more successful for both dog and foster when fosters are in reach of needed resources, from crates to behavior support to vet offices to meet and greets to foster dog promotions. If you live on the outside of the Triangle but still within a 90 minute drive of one of our vet partners, we'd be glad to talk with you about the several or more trips to the central Triangle area that it will take to foster a dog successfully.

The foster application is similar to the adoption application and we will review your references and possibly conduct a home visit. If your application is approved, you will be notified about attending the training session, which usually coincides with our Meet and Greets. Please see the Steps to Foster flyer below for more information about the process.

Please review the application before you begin so you can gather information you will need to fill out the form. Be ready to fill out the form in its entirety in one session (45 minutes). If you must step away before you complete the process, your process will "time out."

If you receive an error when submitting your application, contact our Foster Coordinator at and an alternate application form can be sent to you.
