Mr. Bones may not have the appearance of a typical golden, however he has the golden personality and affectionate disposition. He settles into the household very quickly and gets along well with 2 other senior goldens in residence. He is eager to please and is learning new commands as well as improving on his leash manners. He loves attention from all ages of humans and sits or lays so they will continue with the petting & belly rubs. He loves to run and is quick to sneak out of an open door or gate. He is always ready to alert the household that someone is at the door or walking down his street (person, cat, or dog). He has learned who the friendly neighbors are and no longer gives warning that they are in their own backyards. Mr. Bones loves to cuddle and is learning to not physically squash his humans (he wants to be right next to you or laying in your lap). He is overweight and we are working on exercise and fewer treats to get him to a better weight range. He has a good nose and does occasionally counter surf to taste the delectable human goodies he can find. He does not like fireworks or thunder and will bark at the rumbles. He does like to spend time outdoors roaming in the fenced backyard, chasing squirrels or exploring on walks.
Mr Bones’s forever home will need to continue to work on teaching new commands and improving his leash training. He is completely house-trained and crate-trained. He knows sit and down and is learning to wait. He will do best in a home with someone home the majority of the time to provide him with the attention and exercise that he needs. His forever family should be able to provide him with an active environment to engage him mentally and physically. He would do well with a task and may enjoy nose work/scent training. Mr Bones will make a great family dog! Are you the family for him?
