Deputy Dawg might not look like a golden retriever, but he is a tender-hearted soul who loves being with his people. He will stick to you like glue around the house and is very curious about everything that’s going on.

He is crate and house trained and loves to go out several times a day just to pee and mark his territory. He loves to go for walks, and car rides are his favorite. He will sit in the back seat and look out the back window to see what’s going on and where’s he’s going. He enjoys meeting new people on his terms and warms up quickly.

Deputy Dawg is a big baby when it comes to thunderstorms. He is not destructive, but shakes until it’s over and wants to be glued to your side.

This big handsome dude is just waiting to be a part of your loving family.

Gender:		Male

Age:		About eight years old

Weight:		69 pounds

Health status:		Good. Deputy Dawg recently completed hearworm treatment and is doing well.

Major personality traits:		Sweet, lovable, a little pushy, very much a people dog.

Interaction with dogs:		Needs to be an only dog.

Interaction with cats:		No cats.

Child requirements:		Children age 12 and up. He’s very tall and very strong.

Fence requirements:		Fence preferred. If you have a fenced yard it must be at least a 5-foot fence as he’s very tall. Otherwise he needs to be on a leash.

General activity level:		Not overly active, but likes a good walk a couple times a day. He will follow you around the house wherever you go.

Work schedule best suited for:		Would be best with people who are home most of the time.

Leash manners:		Generally good. Will pull a little for good sniffs!

Type of training required:		Continue reinforcing good manners, leash walking and crate training.

Degree of adopter experience needed:		He needs someone who will be patient and help him be more confident when his people disappear from sight as he tends to protest a little. He would also benefit from someone who can continue positive reinforcement training to maintain his manners.
