Available Dog - Texas

Texas with the soft brown eyes

Texas is a playful, sweet young guy who likes to take walks around the neighborhood. Sometimes he will pull, especially when he sees other dogs because he really wants to play with them! He will be playful towards dogs that greet him and will listen when you tell him to sit and stay if passing other dogs that do not greet him. Once indoors, he'll play fetch and tug of war for a little while and will calm down relatively quickly once it's time to sit down and relax.

We think he would do best in a home with a fenced back yard and another dog to roam around with.

He has a cerebellar defect that causes him to drag his paws on the ground so he can't walk on hard ground for very long and has poor balance on hardwood floor. He is otherwise very healthy and does not require anything for it. To read more about Texas’s condition click here.

Sometimes he gets overly energetic and tries to nibble at you and play rough so he needs someone who will be patient and assertive with him when he gets too playful.

He would be a wonderful addition to your home, just in time for the holidays!

In general, will do well with all ages, but may do better with older children because at times he can get overly rambunctious, especially after walks.

Not required but recommended because he is used to a fence.
