Oscar

Hi new family! My name is Oscar and I know I don’t look like the typical golden, but I am a golden at heart! I didn’t have the best life before coming into my foster home, but now I am looking and feeling better and ready to find my furever home!

I get along with other dogs, but I always try to push my way through and steal the attention so I can have it all for myself. I would be fine with a 4-legged sibling, but I would also love to be your one and only! I’m still learning a lot of things like how to walk well on a leash, basic commands, how to play with toys, etc. but I am highly food motivated! I love treats and peanut butter…YUM!

I am house broken, crate trained, and eager to please. I am still learning to trust that my foster mom will return and still a little skittish about some noises, like the vacuum. Why do humans have to use those things anyway?! I have short fur so I don’t shed a lot, which is not something a lot of goldens can say! I am happy and goofy, and the hit of the vet office. I love all people and I get SO excited to meet new friends! Sometimes I get a little too excited and I jump on them, but it’s just because I want to say hi, so I need to be taught to welcome new friends in a calmer way.

I’m a pretty healthy guy now but it took a lot to get there. I do have something called an underactive thyroid, which I will have for life, but I don’t even notice the pill in my food every day and the vet says it’s well managed now! I also have low tear production so I get some eye drops every day too, but I take those like a champ! I may or may not have to take those forever, you’ll have to talk to my foster mom about it, but I’m really good about taking medicine. Other than those minor things, I’m a really good boy that just wants to be loved and petted, and since I still don’t really know what toys are, all I request is a gentle hand or two and a soft bed.

I have such an incredible story to tell…won’t you listen to it while we snuggle?
