Their Story...

In early December, a very pregnant, sweet dog was dropped at a high kill shelter.  There was no space for her and her survival was highly improbable.  One of the rescues we work with called to see if perhaps NRGRR could be that special rescue for Mary.  They let us know that this shelter would in all likelihood euthanize her.  NRGRR said “Of course, yes! Bring her to us!”

We named her Mary and we gave her a safe place to have her puppies at one of our amazing vet hospital partners. She gave birth to 11 puppies on December 13 under the watchful eye of the staff.  Because it was Christmas and mama’s name is Mary, the puppies were given seasonally appropriate names. There are seven boys and four girls.

After a few days, Mary and family were moved to their foster home where they have been loved and cared for by a most amazing foster and her family.

Weaning is complete, first wormings and vaccinations have been given and these incredibly healthy puppies have moved to new foster homes where they will begin to learn how to be loving pets.  The puppies will stay in foster care until they are spayed or neutered around March 7. They can move to their permanent homes between March 9 - 12 depending on their recoveries.

In the meantime NRGRR is opening up a special application process to find their forever homes. Nine puppies are available for adoption.  Mary and two of the puppies have found their forever families.
