Gray

Cody RescueIn January 2017, our medical director called one of our amazing fosters about a golden coming in with two torn ACLs.  Having been through this rehab previously with another dog, the foster was up for the challenge.

Cody was a 3 year old purebred male Golden that was surrendered by his owners who could not afford his care.  The family initially wanted him euthanized but the vet told them about NRGRR and that is how he came to the rescue with the club name Gray.

Cody was very overweight at 103+ lbs, he could barely walk, and was in a fair amount of pain.  He had his surgery February 13, where they repaired both legs at once.  One of the challengesCody_Rehab was to make sure he got enough food and nutrients for healing, but also to have him lose 20 lbs. Cody is a real people-pleaser and was a very cooperative boy (although he wanted nothing to do with the crate no matter how much coaxing we did prior to his surgery - everyone, including our cat, got in the crate but Cody!) - he did well post-op and with the rehab.  His rehab took more time because of his weight and since his injuries were more extensive his surgery was more complex.

Cody_AdoptBy April, Cody was ready for adoption.  His fosters were very torn, as Cody was a love-bug and fit right in to their home, but they knew another previous adopter who were looking for another golden after just losing theirs.  They met Cody and it was love at first sight and clearly, the rest is history!

Cody took the title of “most expensive dog” of 2017, with over $8,000 spent on his medical care.  Please consider donating to Blarney's fund to help NRGRR cover his medical expenses.
