I’m searching for a new human to guide me in this new world I’ve finally discovered.  My foster has started me on my journey and I’m starting to get the hang of all the things an awesome dog needs to do like wait my turn, walk on a leash without pulling, and coming when I’m called.  There is so much to learn.  Sometimes I get confused because I have not had much training.  I don’t know if I’m supposed to jump on people to get their attention or roll over on my back to submit or just sit calmly.

I’m starting to shed the old me with the new awesome dog me!  My foster’s dog is trying to show me the ropes, but again, I have difficulty knowing how to act.  Sometimes I want to lick his face and occasionally I want to growl at him.  Most of the time, I want to be top dog, so it would be better if I were the only dog so I can focus on becoming an awesome dog.

There are two things you should know about me.  I DON’T do well with any small furry animals especially cats or bunnies, and I do so much better with my training when I get my daily walks.  Other than that, I’m all good and very eager to find my permanent home.

Gender:

Male

Age:

About six years

Weight:

65 pounds

Health status:

Good

Major personality traits:

Think of him as a 6 year old puppy that is very sweet but still all over the place when it comes to learning how to be a good member of the “pack”.

Interaction with dogs:

Inconsistent. Depends on the dog and situation.  Needs more training. He would be much better as only dog.

Interaction with cats:

NO CATS! Or other small furry animals.  He has a strong prey drive.

Child requirements:

Older children.  He might knock down little ones.

Fence requirements:

Not required but he’d really appreciate one so he can run around freely.  The fence needs to be solid and over 5 ft.  He will wriggle through openings or jump over low fences to get at squirrels, bunnies, geese, cats, other dogs, etc.

General activity level:

Medium

Work schedule best suited for:

Any but loves his people and company and does better if they are home more than gone.

Leash manners:

Needs training.  Does well with a “gentle leader”.

Degree of training needed:

Definitely needs consistent ongoing training.  Still working on all basic skills but has made good progress so far.
