Donations

Thank you for considering a donation to support Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue.

Our volunteers give their time, their homes and their hearts to every dog who comes to us for help. Unfortunately, warm homes and loving hearts alone do not pay for the medical care and supplies our dogs need.  Adoption fees cover only about half of the total cost of caring for a rescued golden in our program, the majority of which is for medical treatments (86%). Sadly, the number of golden retrievers who have entered our program and the costs related to their medical care have dramatically increased over the past several years.

When you make a tax-deductible gift to the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue, you can be assured that your donation is directly supporting golden retrievers rescued through our program, and allowing us to continue to provide help to others in the years to come.

Thank you for your support.

Planned Giving

Are you looking to make a lasting gift to Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue? There is no better way to do so than by making a planned gift.  Your gift can be directed to our Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue Fund at the Triangle Community Foundation, or for any other purpose you designate.

If you want to discuss these options or any other type of planned gift, please contact us at NRGRR@hotmail.com, or 919-900-8773 (phone). If you have added the Rescue to your will, please let us know so that we may recognize you as part of our Legacy Society if you so desire.

Bequest by Will

Including a charitable bequest in your will is a simple way to make a lasting gift to the Rescue.  You can leave a bequest to the Rescue by adding to an existing will or drafting a new one.  Here are some ways to structure the amount of your gift:

  • a stated dollar amount;
  • a percentage of your estate; or
  • the remainder of your estate after distributions are made to other beneficiaries.

Charitable gifts may be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Please consult your tax or legal adviser.

Life Insurance

Giving through life insurance is one of the simplest ways to make a significant contribution to the Rescue. There are two basic approaches:

  • designate Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue as the primary or secondary beneficiary of either 100 percent, or some lower percentage of the proceeds from the policy; or
  • Transfer ownership of the policy to the rescue—the policy should be either paid in full or you should continue making premium payments.

If you transfer ownership of the policy, it may be possible for you to treat such transfer as a present gift for which a charitable tax deduction may be taken, and your continued payment of premiums could each be considered a charitable contribution, deductible to the full extent of the law.

 Gifts from Retirement Plans

Retirement plan assets (for example, those in qualified plans and IRAs) may be ideal for charitable giving purposes because these assets are often heavily taxed when passed to non‐spouse beneficiaries. To make a future gift of retirement plan assets simply requires that you designate the rescue as the beneficiary of your retirement plan.

NOTHING IN THIS COMMUNICATION IS, OR SHOULD BE CONSIDERED, LEGAL, TAX OR INVESTMENT ADVICE.  YOU SHOULD CONSULT YOUR OWN LEGAL COUNSEL, ACCOUNTANTS, TAX AND INVESTMENT ADVISERS AS TO LEGAL, TAX AND OTHER MATTERS CONCERNING THE PLANNED GIVING OPTIONS DISCUSSED BELOW, INCLUDING HOW THOSE OPTIONS MAY APPLY WITH RESPECT TO YOUR INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

Donations of Crates and Supplies

NRGRR also welcomes donations of quality dog food, crates and other supplies for use in our foster homes.  If you have items of this nature that you would like to donate to our organization, please send a note to NRGRR@hotmail.com, and a volunteer will coordinate a pick-up.  Thank you for considering a donation to our rescue!
