Adoption Info
Please read prior to considering a NRGRR dog:
Due to the volume of applications we receive, the processing time to approve an application may take several weeks after receipt of the adoption application and processing fee.
The adoption process starts by calling our information line or attending an adoptathon event, filling out an adoption application and working with one of our volunteers to find possible matches. Adoptathons are held the first and third Saturdays every month.
You will then meet with foster dogs and their foster families. Once you and the dog decide that a match is made, you will fill out a contract and pay the adoption fees, which help cover our medical costs.
There are three ways to apply to adopt a Neuse River golden retriever (Please pick just ONE!):
- Fill out an online application and pay the $30 application fee. A volunteer will contact you within a few days.
- Send us your contact information.
A volunteer will contact you within a few days and email an application to you.
You fill it out, save it and email it back to them.

An information line volunteer will call you back within a few days and email an application to you.

Upon approval of the application the information line volunteer will review a list of available dogs with you and will help get you in touch with the fosters. Approved applications are good for one year from the date of approval.
Foster families make appointments with you to meet goldens that may be a good match.

| 6 weeks - 6 months | $350 | Adoption fees are required to help cover medical expenses. The adoption fee includes a physical exam by our vet, spay/neuter, shots/vaccines, a heartworm test and heartworm treatment if necessary. |
